Radar Check: Strong Thunderstorms Entering West Alabama This Afternoon

| December 27, 2024 @ 3:37 pm

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is moving into Sumter and Choctaw counties this afternoon with strong winds, lightning, and heavy rain. The NWS in Jackson has a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for the portions of the line adjacent to Sumter county, and a tornado warning for the area adjacent to Choctaw county. While there are no active warnings currently for either county in Alabama, they bear watching closely in case warnings become necessary. If warnings are issued, we will post them as they come. At a minimum, heavy rain and gusty winds can be expected over west Alabama with these storms.
