Thursday Drought Update: Little To No Improvement Once Again This Week

| January 23, 2025 @ 10:09 am

Widespread drought conditions remain across the state, with more than 35% of the state remaining in at least a moderate level drought. There have been no changes in the percentage of the state in the moderate and severe level droughts, however the area in abnormally dry conditions has decreased by about 10% since last week.

Not a whole lot of rain or precipitation is anticipated over the next week, with the highest numbers west of Alabama. The current WPC forecast calls for up to 1″ in west Alabama along the state line, with less than 1″ elsewhere. This likely wont have much of an impact on the ongoing drought conditions.
