Flood Warning In Effect For Portions Of Northwest Alabama Until 9pm Tonight

The NWS has issued a flood warning for a large section of northwestern Alabama. This includes portions of the following counties: Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, and Morgan. Small stream and creek flooding is expected within the warned area.

Here are the details you need to know:

WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is 
  expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest Alabama, including 
  the following counties, in north central Alabama, Cullman, 
  Limestone and Morgan. In northwest Alabama, Colbert, Franklin, 
  Lauderdale and Lawrence.

* WHEN...Until 900 PM CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not 
  be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 223 PM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
    begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches
    of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible
    in the warned area.

    Decatur, Florence, Athens, Hartselle, Muscle Shoals,
    Russellville, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Moulton, Red Bay,
    Priceville, Trinity, Falkville, Rogersville, Phil Campbell,
    Killen, Town Creek, Cherokee, Littleville and Lexington.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
