Thursday Drought Update- A Odd Outlook Despite Recent Rain
Even with all the rain AL saw the last few days, this weeks drought monitor shows a considerable increase in both the moderate and severe levels of drought. But why is that? Well its quite simple actually. This weeks drought monitor does not take into account the rain we had the last 2 days. The impact that that rain caused will show up in next weeks update, which we expect to show significant improvement with some areas seeing in excess of 3″ of rain yesterday alone!
Additional rain is expected this weekend as a strong storm system moves in, with some areas seeing 1-2″ of rain on Saturday. This will help reduce the drought even further, so I would expect this map to look very different come next Thursday!
