A Quick Check on Our Weather Situation Just Before 10AM CST

| February 19, 2025 @ 9:38 am

Radar check as of 9:12AM shows that much of the precipitation has moved out of the state, but we do have some lingering mainly east of a line from Heflin to Rockford to Andalusia, in the form of rain. However, a few locations west of that are still seeing light snow flurries, especially over the northeastern parts of the state.

Scenes of roadways around the northern parts of the state are pretty much like the camera shot that is located at AL-133 at Chisholm Road in Florence… grassy areas are snow covered, but roadways are just wet with no travel issues being reported on ALGO Traffic and NWS Chat.

North of a line from Hytop to Cullman to Haleyville are below freezing, with temperature in the 28-32 degree range. South of that, temperatures are above freezing and no issues are expected for locations south of that line.

The Winter Weather Advisory has been canceled as the wintry precipitation has moved out of those areas, and the entire state is under a Cold Weather Advisory from midnight tonight to 12PM Thursday for North and Central Alabama (NWS Huntsville and NWS Birmingham county warning area), and until 9AM Thursday for South Alabama (NWS Mobile and NWS Tallahassee county warning area). Thursday morning lows are expected to dip into the mid-teens to the lower 30s across the state, with wind chills reaching much lower, as low as -2 to 17 degrees in some locations. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
