COOLER TODAY: Following last night’s active weather, low clouds cover Alabama this morning. We all know that forecast clearing after a strong wave can be challenging, but we will be optimistic and forecast clearing later today with some afternoon sunshine. If the sun breaks out, we will rise up to near 60 degrees. However, if the clouds stick around all day, we note the NAM is printing a high of only 52 for Birmingham today, and no doubt it will be cooler than forecast. Some of you will see a little drizzle this morning as well.

THE WEEKEND: Tomorrow still looks delightful, with a sunny sky and a milder afternoon; the high tomorrow will be close to 70 degrees. But, clouds return quickly tomorrow, and some rain could move into the state after midnight. Sunday continues to look wet, with periods of rain and possibly a thunderstorm. SPC has low end (5 percent) severe weather probabilities in place for much of the state; there is hardly any surface based instability, and dynamics are less than impressive. We figure rain amounts of about 1/2 inch will be likely Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: Monday will feature a clearing sky with a high in the low 60s. Then, it looks like we will put together a string of sunny days with very mild afternoons. Sure looks like we could be flirting with the 80 degree mark by the end of the week, right as April begins. The next chance of showers and storms shows up around Saturday April 3, and those could pack a punch if the GFS is correct.

LAST NIGHT: Be sure and scroll down for pictures and video of the tornado that went through parts of Maylene and Alabaster around 7:00 p.m. yesterday. Thanks to everybody who took the time to send those to us. Glad nobody was hurt!
