Bands of strong thunderstorms are currently impacting parts of Alabama this afternoon.

The most intense activity stretches from Chilton and Coosa counties southward through Autauga, Elmore, and into Wilcox County.

Heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty winds are occurring with these storms.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for northeastern Autauga County until 2:00 PM CDT, where radar has indicated wind gusts up to 60 mph.

Communities such as Deatsville, Billingsley, Marbury, and Booth are within the warning area.

These storms may produce localized wind damage along with dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning and brief flooding in poor drainage areas.

Remain alert for additional warnings that may be issued if these storms continue to intensify.
