Another Very Warm Early April Day

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

80s AGAIN TODAY: We are headed for the low 80s again today with a good supply of sunshine, but to the west strong to severe storms are possible around the Ark-La-Tex region, and we will be watching those as they move this way.

TOMORROW: Guidance is in pretty good agreement. A band of showers and storms should move into West Alabama tomorrow morning. Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the RPM had the line moving into the state around 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., then moving steadily eastward through the midday hours. A few strong storms are possible initially within the line, but as the day wears on, the main upper support will be lifting north, away from Alabama, and the storms will weaken, preventing any serious severe weather problem here. In fact, by mid-afternoon the RPM shows only isolated showers south and east of Birmingham, where some folks could miss the rain completely. Rain amounts will range from around 1/2 inch in the northwest corner of the state, to around 1/4 inch for Birmingham, and hardly anything to the south and east. The rain should last for about 30 minutes or so, so it certainly won’t be a wash-out.

EASTER SUNDAY AND NEXT WEEK: Warm and dry weather is the story; with a good supply of sunshine each day Sunday through Tuesday with highs in the low 80s. The 00Z GFS delays the mid-week cold front until Thursday, when a few showers and storms are possible. Cooler air arrives Friday, but nothing cold enough to get us down to the freezing mark. But, remember, this is model output, and there remains some risk of temperatures being colder than depicted by the GFS. Hopefully we will get away with lows in the 40s and no issues, but we will keep an eye on it.

VOODOO LAND: Still no sign of any major severe weather set-up across the Deep South through mid-April. Great news; temperatures look like they will be generally above average, with rain amounts below average.
