Warm Weather Sticks Around

Warm weather is going to stick around for several days starting today as we should see the mercury climb into the low 80s for highs. Morning clouds should give way to an abundant supply of sunshine this afternoon. A stationary front in Central Alabama will move slowly north today. Early this morning the contrast in air masses was very evident with mid 40 dew points in the Tennessee Valley with near 60 values in South Alabama. Fog was also present south of the front and mostly sunny skies north of the front. As the front moves north a shower or two might develop along the boundary but I don’t think we’ll see anything in Alabama.
The great weather continues Monday and Tuesday as a new upper trough moves slowly our way. That trough gets closer on Wednesday with clouds increasing. Rain is not likely to affect the state until late Wednesday or perhaps into the early morning hours Thursday. The surface low will be up into the southern Great Lakes area with the front coming through Central Alabama during the midday hours Thursday.
The front sweeps through ending the rain chances by late Thursday. As the upper trough goes by, the upper flow goes northwesterly which will mean a nice cool down for Friday. Look for the highs to reach the upper 60s on Thursday and the lower 60s on Friday.
The ridge builds back across the Southeast states Saturday and Sunday with a new upper low coming across Southern California Sunday setting the stage for our next storm system.
Looking further ahead, another round of wet weather is possible around the 14th. That upper system seems to take it’s time getting by us, so it could create several days of unsettled weather. But warm weather returns around the 19th.
