Dry, Warm Conditions Keep Rolling Along

| April 11, 2010 @ 8:32 am | 1 Reply

No Weather Xtreme Video today due to my working at the Barber Motorsports Park for the Indy Grand Prix. Unfortunately, there is no quiet place to get a video done, and believe me, the race cars make a lot of noise.

The string of warm, dry conditions is going to stretch into a week or so. The Birmingham International Airport hit 76 for the high yesterday. The weak short wave coming through the flow yesterday brought some cirrus clouds to the sky. The warming trend with highs today reaching the mid and upper 70s will continue with 80s into mid and late week.

In the upper atmosphere, a ridge will build across the area through the end of the week. The ridge will breakdown late Saturday and into Sunday with perhaps a small chance for some showers to our north. The strong ridge will bring warm temperatures as noted. MOS guidance seems to get stuck around the 80-degree mark, but with the strong ridge, I can’t help but wonder if we won’t see temperatures get into the mid 80s. The average high for next week is around 75. If we should get into the mid 80s, we’ll be flirting with near record temperatures.

The weather becomes more unsettled as we stretch out into voodoo country. It appears now like our next good shot at rain won’t come until April 20th.

Thanks for your understanding with respect to the lack of video this weekend. James Spann will be back with the next Weather Xtreme Video first thing tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I’m getting things ready for the big trip! But more on that later. Have a great day and Godspeed.
