A zone of scattered thunderstorms (not a distinct line) extended across Alabama from West Calhoun County on the east side of the state southwestward across SW Jefferson and Shelby Couny to North Hale and North Greene County on the west side.

Some of the stronger storms were:

* Over SW Jefferson County
* North Hale County
* North Greene County

NWS issued a Significant Weather Alert because of the North Hale County storm.

One of our blog readers reported heavy rain and power out in the vicinity of Publix on US 280 at Lee Branch and the base of Double Oak Mountain.
