Warm, Muggy Summer-Like Days
An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.
WARMING UP: What a difference a day makes. Yesterday it felt like late October with temperatures struggling to get out of the 50s along with clouds and some light rain. Today, the weather is more like June with high humidity, a partly sunny sky, and temperatures back in the low 80s.
The warming trend continues for the rest of the week thanks to a strong upper ridge… we will be in the mid 80s tomorrow, followed by highs in the 87 to 90 degree range Thursday and Friday. The weather stays generally dry, although a few showers could show up Friday afternoon across the Tennessee Valley of extreme North Alabama.
THE WEEKEND: A weak front will drift into Alabama, and will bring some risk of scattered showers Saturday and Sunday. But, the rain won’t be widespread, and highs will remain in the mid to upper 80s with intervals of sunshine. Humidity levels will stay high, just like summer.
NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: A short wave will bring an increased coverage of showers and storms early next week; watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the best chance of rain could come late Monday, Monday night, and into Tuesday morning. A few storms could be involved, but a widespread severe weather event is not likely. Then, the rest of the week looks warm and dry.
Out there in voodoo land, it still looks like temperatures will be above average, with below average rain through the rest of May as upper ridging takes over.
