A String Of Hot Days Ahead
An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.
THE HEAT PARADE: No surprise the weather is hot this week; usually our hottest weather of the summer comes from mid-July to mid-August. An upper ridge will park of Alabama, pushing highs well up into the 90s, and squashing most of the showers that try to form due to the warm air aloft.
We project a high in the mid 90s tomorrow and Wednesday, followed by upper 90s Thursday through the weekend. No doubt a few spots could touch the 100 degree mark, and cooling showers will be few and far between. Each day should feature a good supply of sunshine, and we will probably have some air quality issues due to ground level ozone due to the hot, stagnant air.
NEXT WEEK: The heat ridge weakens a bit next week, with heat levels backing off a little, with the chance of an afternoon storm going up a bit. Still, the weather will be hot.
TROPICS: More than likely, it will take some kind of tropical system for a widespread wet-down in this pattern, and we are watching a disturbance north of Puerto Rico that bears watching. Some models take this toward Cuba and the southern Gulf of Mexico in about 5 days; we will keep an eye on it. See the Weather Xtreme video for more details.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
