How Hot Has It Been?

The following statement came from the National Weather Service office at the Shelby County Airport this morning. We are about halfway through Summer, and since June we’ve seen some fairly hot weather – and the statistics just prove what we already knew.

...IT'S BEEN ONE HOT SUMMER SO FAR AND THE HEAT WILL CONTINUE...

BOTH JUNE AND JULY WERE QUITE WARM ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA. IT WAS SO
WARM, THAT SEVERAL CLIMATOLOGICAL TOP TEN MEASUREMENTS HAVE
OCCURRED. IF THE HEAT DOES CONTINUE, WE WILL APPROACH MANY MORE
RECORDS BEFORE THE SUMMER IS THROUGH.

DEGREES.


WELL, JULY HAS COME TO AN END AND THE HOT WEATHER CONTINUES. HEAT
ADVISORIES REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA. THE NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM IS FORECASTING HOT CONDITIONS FOR AT
LEAST ANOTHER WEEK. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY BE 4 TO 8
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND FLIRTING WITH THE CENTURY MARK ON SEVERAL
DAYS. LOW TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY BE 3 TO 7 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL.  THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER CURRENTLY ADVERTISES THE 6 TO
10 DAY OUTLOOK AND THE 8 TO 14 DAY OUTLOOK AS ABOVE NORMAL.
ADDITIONALLY, THE ONE MONTH (AUGUST) AND THE THREE MONTH (AUGUST,
SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER) FORECASTS CALL FOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES.

ALL THE DATA IN THIS STATEMENT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED PRELIMINARY.
