We received this note last from from the AFC… thought it was worth passing along…

An Urgent Fire Safety Message ?from the Alabama Forestry Commission
?
Extremely dry weather conditions, high temperatures, and low humidity have helped increase wildfire activity the past few days. Not only has the Alabama Forestry Commission seen an increase in fire starts but also an increase in the size of fires, as well as difficulty in keeping them contained. These weather conditions are expected to persist for several days.

The Commission is asking for your help in informing the public of this hazard. Although we are not under any type of alert at this time, we are asking that the public prolong any outdoor burning until we receive measurable rainfall.

In the last seven days, there have been 155 wildfires burning over 2,100 Alabama acres. For more information on the current wildfire situation, visit the AFC website at www.forestry.alabama.gov/fire_totals.aspx
