90…Again…and a War Eagle Weather Update

WON’T GET FOOLED AGAIN: J.B.’s favorite band, The Who, sang those lyrics about revolution back in 1971. I am going to claim them in relation to the summer that won’t quit, the summer of 2010. This morning, I predicted that the mercury would not reach 90F at Birmingham today, but stop in the upper 80s. Of course, just before 1 p.m., the mercury rose to 90F at BHM. This makes the 100th day that has happened in 2010. This still puts 2010 in 4th place right now on the all time list. In 1925, there were 110 such days. There were 107 and 104 in 1954 and 1962 respectively. The summer of 2010 has fooled me so many times this year. I have a feeling it still has a few surprises up its sleeve.

AUBURN UPDATE: The cool front is somewhere near I-85 in South Central Alabama early this afternoon. That’s good news for Auburn fans, as most of the showers and storms will be south of it this afternoon and evening. There was a developing storm about 12 miles south of the stadium at 3 o’clock, but it should move east northeast away from the Loveliest Village. There still is a chance of a shower or storm, especially before the game, but it looks like that chance is decreasing. It’s warm right now, 91F at Auburn. Game time temperatures will start in the middle 80s, falling into the upper 70s by the time Auburn seals this pivotal SEC win.
