Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

Upper low and showers

| September 27, 2010 @ 3:10 pm | Reply

An upper-level low, representing cold temperatures aloft, is spinning over Alabama this afternoon.  So, even with surface temperatures only reaching the 70s with sunshine, the cold temperatures aloft created instability, and the lift from the upper level low also helped set off scattered showers and a few thunderstorms (a few lightning strikes detected).  We may see a few more showers into the evening, but most should die off after sunset.

However, as James points out in detail in the forecast below, fall has arrived very quickly in Alabama.  After highs of 97 and 98 last week, expect classic fall weather, with clear skies, warm afternoons, and cool nights this week…no A/C needed in most homes.  Highs will reach the 70s or near 80, but temperatures will drop quickly in the evenings, and morning lows will be chilly, mainly 50 to 55.

James and the crew went live at a rib place in Leeds today for Weatherbrains (scroll down).  I missed it…thought it was dinner and not lunch!
