Dry, Pleasant Weather Continues
An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.
ANOTHER COOL MORNING: Some 5 a.m. temperatures around the state include 45 at Haleyville, 46 at Cullman, 48 at Decatur, Muscle Shoals, and Huntsville, and 52 at Birmingham. Hard to believe just 7 to 8 days ago we had some spots reaching 100 degrees across our state.
REST OF THE WEEK: The dry weather pattern continues through Friday with sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights. Afternoon highs will be at or just over 80, with morning lows mostly in the 50s.
NICE WEEKEND: A new surge of cool, dry air will drop into Alabama over the weekend, with highs in the upper 70s Saturday and low 70s Sunday. Morning lows will drop into the upper 40s Sunday, with potential for mid 40s early Monday. We have to wonder if some of the colder spots like Valley Head will reach 38 or 39 degrees at daybreak Monday. The sky will remain mostly sunny through early next week.
LONG RANGE: That 12Z run of the GFS yesterday that brought rain into Alabama around October 10 is clearly an outlier as no run since then has shown that feature. Bottom line is that our weather looks dry into mid-October as the tropical storms that form stay to the east.
TD16: This is a broad tropical system that should briefly become Tropical Storm Nicole today and tonight, but it will become extra-tropical tomorrow as it merges with a cold front, and will be mainly a big rain producer for the East Coast. Some communities along the eastern seaboard will see over 5 inches of rain from this system as it lifts northeast. No impact on our weather here in Alabama.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
