An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

BLUE SKY: Temperatures are mostly in the 60s across our end of Alabama this afternoon; Birmingham reports 68 degrees at 2:00 with a north wind averaging 10 mph, gusting at times to 18 mph. The wind will die down this evening, allowing for another very cool night for early October. While most places will wind up in the 40 to 45 degree range, the colder valleys will head for the 30s again, and like this morning a few spots might see some scattered light frost. Keep in mind it was as cold as 32 degrees in Alabama this morning… that was reported in the southwest corner of Lamar County near Millport. Scroll down for a long list of minimum temperatures posted by J.B.

REST OF THE WEEK: No moisture means no clouds and no chance of rain. A gradual warming trend begins tomorrow afternoon, with a high in the low 70s. We reach the mid 70s Wednesday, followed by low 80s Thursday and Friday. Look for maximum available sunshine each day.

THE WEEKEND: Not much change. Sunny weather continues Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low 80s and lows in the 50s. Great for football or anything else you want to do outdoors.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: We stay dry through much of next week. Unfortunately, the 12Z GFS has backed off on the idea of some mid-month rain, showing only a few sprinkles around October 14.

TROPICAL: Only a few weak, organized waves are seen across the Atlantic basin. Tropical storm formation is not expected through mid-week. The GFS does show a system in the Northwest Caribbean in about 10 days, but it moves northeast into the Atlantic without being a threat to the U.S.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes.
