Thunderstorms, gravity wave

Area of thunderstorms in west Alabama has weakened a little more, but the outflow boundary produced by the storms has interacted with the nighttime cool layer near the surface and produced a nice gravity wave feature known as a “bore” out ahead of it.  Bores can be windy, and actually raise the temperature briefly, helping storms to form.  Notice the storms forming behind the bore over western Jefferson County.
