From Haiti
Thanks to ABC 33/40 Skywatcher Brandon Harris for these images taken this week in Haiti while on a mission trip… he writes…
“Hey James…
We got back from Haiti this morning around 1am. I have to say, from where we were (just East of Port-au-Prince in Croix de Bouquette) Tomas wasn’t as bad as I expected. During the night we might have experienced sustained winds of 30 or 40 and possibly a few gusts to 50 or 60. I’ve been through a lot worse during the Spring in Alabama. The rain was the biggest problem in the areas I personally saw. Many of these people are still living in tents, and some are even out in the open staying under trees or whatever else they can find. The country is still reeling from the earthquake.
I’ve attached a few pictures of some storms that rode the initial bands in on Thursday afternoon. I didn’t get any shots from the worst of the hurricane, because it hit at midnight…however I did record the sounds, which were eerie to say the least. I also included a rainbow shot, just as a reminder that even during the worst of times here on Earth, God is still watching over us.
Thanks!”
