Warm Front Moving Northward

**We are running on a holiday schedule through Sunday… meaning just one Weather Xtreme video per day. You can watch today’s video in the player on the right side of the blog**

RIGHT NOW: A well defined warm front is moving slowly northward across our state. On the south side of the boundary, the temperature at Demopolis has soared to 76 with a dewpoint of 64 (based on data from our SKYCAM there at the Demopolis Civic Center). However, on the other side, the SKYCAM at Gadsden is showing low clouds, some drizzle, and a cool 55 degrees. An impressive 21 degree difference.

TONIGHT/TOMORROW: The front should move northward, totally out of Alabama, tonight. This means some places in Northeast Alabama could see rising temperatures tonight. A few isolated showers remain possible, but widespread rain is not expected.

For Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, we will be flirting with record highs with a mix of sun and clouds and a high in the mid 70s (the record high tomorrow is 78 set in 1921. Most of the day will be dry, although a rogue shower or storm could show up somewhere during the day.

The main band of showers and storms along the Polar front will move in here late tomorrow night, especially after midnight. While a strong storm is possible, major severe weather issues are not expected.

RAW DAY FRIDAY: We hold in the 40s all day Friday with a stiff north wind of 10-20 mph, and light rain at times. We are increasingly confident the rain will end by the time the Iron Bowl kicks off at 1:30. The temperature in Tuscaloosa will be near 47 at kickoff, dropping to near 43 by the end of the game.

THE WEEKEND: After lows in the 20s early Saturday, the weekend will feature a warming trend, with lots of sunshine. The high Saturday will be in the upper 50s, followed by low 60s on Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: A round of showers and storms is likely Monday night and Tuesday… colder and drier air follows by Wednesday.
