Overnight Storm FAQ
WHEN? The main threat of severe weather will be from midnight tonight through 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. The threat begins in West Alabama in the midnight to 3 a.m. time frame, with East Alabama having a risk of severe weather after 4:00 a.m. The rain and storms should be out of our region by mid-morning.
WHAT? The greatest tornado threat will be over West Alabama, generally along and south of U.S. 82, or south of a line from Reform to Tuscaloosa to Brent to Maplesville to Montgomery. Some of the cities in this area include Greensboro, Eutaw, York, Livingston, Demopolis, and Marion. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out over East Alabama, but the air is more stable there. All of the state will have potential for high wind along the squall line early tomorrow morning.
SUGGESTION: Have your NOAA Weather Radio powered up and programmed properly in the event tornado warnings are needed in the middle of the night, which is very possible, especially over West Alabama. Do not rely on outdoor warning sirens!
