A Beneficial Rain…

| December 11, 2010 @ 10:09 pm | Reply

The lack of instability tonight over Central Alabama has paid off in a corresponding lack of severe weather tonight over the area.  Most areas are getting beneficial rains.  Doppler radar indicates 1.5 to 2 inches has fallen across parts of Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Fayette, Walker, Winston and western Cullman Counties.

Winds have been strong and gusty ahead of the rain.  They tend to calm a bit when the line passes but will pick back up overnight.

Temperatures have fallen to 42F at Memphis International.  Readings will fall to near freezing overnight with temperatures remaining in the lower and middle 30s on Sunday with a chance of snow flurries.  A strong northwesterly wind will make things feel even coder, with single digit wind chills tomorrow and single digits readings Sunday night.
