NWS Extends Freezing Rain Advisory…Some Late Reports

| December 15, 2010 @ 9:58 am | Reply

Look at this temperature gradient map. It tells the story well.

The NWS has extended the freezing rain advisory in time until 3 p.m. for the following counties: Autauga, Barbour, Blount, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Elmore, Etowah, Jefferson, Lee, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega and Tallapoosa.

It will still expire at noon for the following counties: Bibb, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Lowndes, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.

So…temperatures will be going up except perhaps over extreme Northeast Alabama. Be aware of the temperature in your area…when it gets up to about 34F, things will start to get better. Til then, assume roads have ice on them when they are wet, especially bridges and overpasses. Delay your trip for awhile if you can.

Be alert on steps, decks, porches and sidewalks, as it will be easy to slip and fall.
