An area of light rain mixed with some light sleet continues to move northeastward across Central Alabama at this hour.

Numerous reports of sleet and sleet/rain mix from places like Hoover, Pelham, Bluff Park, Vestavia and Lincoln.

The heaviest precipitation extends from McCalla to Centreville to northeast of Marion.

Temperatures were in the upper 30s in Shelby county.

At the Birmingham Airport, sleet was reported with 36F. A little to the east and northeast of that, temperatures are in the 33-34F range over eastern Jefferson and western St. Clair counties. There could be some light icing problems in places like Springville in the next 30 minutes as the precipitation moves in with temperatures right around freezing.

Into Etowah County, it is 36F at the Gadsden Airport. Vic Bell reports that he is up to 34F on Lookout Mountain.

So, a mix of rain and sleet will continue pushing northeastward across Central Alabama. Be alert for the potential for bridge icing through the early morning hours, mainly north of a line from Millport to Gardendale to Anniston.

Memphis now has 32F with light snow. 1/4 inch of snow on the ground. They are behind the surface front, which is gathering steam back over western Tennessee and northwestern Mississippi.

We will have another update by 4:30.
