An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes… You now have the option to watch the video full screen, and you can even get code to embed the video in your own web site!

What a great morning… a few quick 5:00 observations:

Desoto State Park 41
Decatur 43
Cullman Airport 45
Alexander City 45
Tuscaloosa 46

Vic Bell at Black Creek, northeast of Gadsden, reports a low of 39 degrees. J.B. will run down a complete list a little later this morning.

DRY AS A BONE: Dry air means no rain through the weekend, with a gradual warming trend. We should reach the low to mid 80s by Sunday afternoon.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Could not ask for better. For the high school games tonight, clear and cool, about 65 at kick off and dropping to the 50s by the second half. In college games, Alabama is at Ole Miss for an 11:00 a.m. kick off tomorrow in Oxford. It should be sunny with about 73 at the start rising to 78 during the game. Auburn will be in Fayetteville to play Arkansas in a 6:45 kick off. Fair weather expected, about 70 at kick off and lowering into the 60s. Tulane will be in Birmingham to play UAB at 6:00 p.m. at Legion Field. Clear weather, 68 at kick off, 62 at final whistle.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: Still looks like our next chance of showers will come late Tuesday, Tuesday night, and perhaps into Wednesday. The 00Z GFS is a little more aggressive with the system, but I am still not convinced it will be a major rain producer. A stronger system will arrive at the end of next week, seven days from now, and hopefully will bring a decent round of showers and storms. Then, much cooler air moves back in here around October 20-22, and it still looks like some of the colder valleys across North Alabama will have a shot at the first frost of the season at that time.

TROPICS: Tropical Depression 15 is in the middle of the Atlantic, well east of Bermuda, and will fizzle out without impacting any land area. The feature along the coast of the Yucatan and Belize is still very interesting, but it is too close to land to really get better organized at this point.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

WEATHER PARTY: Get all the latest weather news over on our sister site, WeatherParty.com. Be sure and register while you are there; you can submit stories and vote on them to determine what is published on the front page. This is a great way to find the latest weather-related news stories.

I will be speaking at the Birmingham East Rotary Club at midday… then back into the office where I should have the afternoon Weather Xtreme video ready by 3:30 or so. Enjoy the day!
