The Snow Just Keeps on Coming

The NWS in Huntsville has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of its warning area, including all of the northern tier of counties in Alabama.

They are calling for an additional inch of accumulation today, with two inches possible in the higher elevations of Northeast Alabama.

This will continue the already treacherous driving conditions in areas where there is snowcover. Bridge and overpasses will be especially problematic. Less traveled roads will also see more problems.

Areas around Florence picked up another inch earlier this morning and numerous accidents were reported between 6-7 a.m.

Snow showers continue across Central Alabama as well.

We have the radar on a very sensitive mode, so nearly all light snow and flurries show up. But some slightly heavier snow is now showing up in the Birmingham metro now, especially west of I-65 and over in eastern sections from Trussville and Moody to Vincent, Harpersville, Childersburg and Sylacauga.

Temperatures are in the upper 20s to near 30F for the most part and skies will remain cloudy most of the day, so nothing is thawing out anytime soon. Winds are gusty out of the northwest at 12-22 mph as well, making it feel even colder. Wind chills are in the teens.
