BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN NYC
JFK Airport reported true blizzard conditions tonight between 9 p.m. and midnight, with winds averaging 36 to 43 mph out of the north with gusts as high as 56 mph…visibilities near 0 but much of the time, snow, blowing snow and freezing fog and temperatures at 22F. Wow!

Snow is falling at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hours in the New York City area right now.

20 inches of snow now on the ground at the Newark Airport…13 inches at Central Park…10.8 at JFK and LaGuardia. There is 23.1 inches at Elizabeth New Jersey, in Union County.

The low bringing all of the the mean weather to the northeast tonight is the same one that brought all of the inclement conditions to California last weekend and a first ever White Christmas to many places in the South. It has intensified rapidly tonight and has a central pressure now of 971 mb. That’s a good category one or two hurricane! It is about 300 miles southeast of Cape Cod and has been slow to move over the past few hours, keeping the New York area in the heavy snow.
