Just for the fun of it (well, maybe fun is the wrong word) so lets say for the interest of it.) This is the official observation from atop Mt. Washington, New Hampshire at 7 am (our time) There is a complete weather station there, in fact they do a lot of weather research and other types of scientific research. At 7 am:

Temperature 9 below zero
Visibility 1/16th mile in blowing snow (near whiteout conditions)
Wind gusting to 81 mph
Wind chill 48 below zero

All part of the Northeast Super Blizzard, of course. Thankfully the intense (very intense) low pressure area has moved NE of the NE corner of Maine.

New York City has 30 degrees at this hour with partly sunny weather with west wind 13 mph. At one time yesterday there were 9-foot waves in (or at the entrance) of New York Harbor.

Boston now reporting clear with 18 degrees, winds NW gusts to 29, wind chill 1 above zero. (a huge improvement from yesterday)

Out in the Atlantic, Southeast of Cape Cod, there are 16 foot waves this morning.

BACK HOME IN ALABAMA
(some early morning 6am temperatures from official stations. Will post some Skywatcher reports later. I am having temporary communication problems)

…10 at Valley Head
…12 Fort Payne
…14 Cullman and Gadsden
…15 Anniston
…20 Birmingham

We will no doubt hear of some single digest from the traditional cold spots in NE Alabama later.

AT THE GULF COAST AT 7 AM
…24 Mobile Regional Airport
…24 Gulf Shores Airport
…27 Panama City

Stay warm!
