NOAA Weatheradios all over Central Alabama sounded recently as the NWS has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning. It comes in two parts…

The first part covers the northern half of Central Alabama starting at noon Sunday. It is for 2-6 inches of snow starting Sunday afternoon. The snow will likely transition to light freezing rain on Monday, possibly creating a dangerous glaze on top of the snow.

The second part covers the southern half of Central Alabama. It starts at noon Sunday. Snow should overspread the area starting late Sunday afternoon, then change to freezing rain Sunday night. 1 to 4 inches of snow will fall, with 1/2 inch of glaze on top of that.
