Messy Winter Day

Scroll down for Jason’s post and our updated thinking for tonight and tomorrow.

The wintry precipitation is well ahead of schedule, with lots of light sleet falling around this state, with some freezing rain and snow involved in spots. This is what is looks like at my current location, the rest area on I-59/20 near Brookwood. Mostly sleet with a few snow flakes mixed in. (I am on the way back from a weather program at Oak Hill School in Tuscaloosa)

We have no reports of icy travel ion Alabama, although conditions are deteriorating in Mississippi. The most significant icing issues in Alabama tonight and tomorrow morning will be over Northwest Alabama, but icy bridges are possible just about anywhere. A full update and fresh video is coming shortly…
