A Late Night Look at Alabama Weather

Friday was not a very nice day across Central Alabama. Temperatures struggled to reach 40F with a cold rain that continued all day.

Highs ranged from 37F at Gadsden to 39F at Pinson to 41F at Birmingham and Calera to 44F at Tuscaloosa.

Skies will remain cloudy most of the night over the state, keeping temperatures a little warmer than earlier expected. Overnight lows will fall into the 30s in most areas, staying above freezing in most spots except for a few isolated locations over Northwest Alabama.

Moisture wrapping around an upper low over the Arklatex is spitting out a few patches of light drizzle over the northern half of the state tonight, but with temperatures remaining above freezing, we should be ok.

Colder air working around the low over southern Arkansas has caused the precipitation to changeover to light snow showers in spots. Some of those could work across northern Mississippi overnight.

Can’t rule out a light snow shower early Saturday, especially over northwestern sections of our state. I am afraid that skies will remain mostly cloudy across the area, which will keep temperatures in the lower 40s on average. Some spots over the Northwest will likely not get out of the 30s. You’ll notice a westerly wind at 7-14 mph. Under mostly clear skies Saturday night, lows will drop into the middle and upper 20s.
