Wintry Weather Reports

* From an individual in Memphis: 1 inch of snow has already accumulated in 1 hour. Roads getting slick. Heavy snow continuing with visibility less than 1/2 mile. Wrecks reported on I-55 south of Memphis.

* Latest radar in the Winter Mosaic setting shows precipitation near the NW corner of Alabama and the western half of Tennessee and all of Kentucky. It is mostly snow in Kentucky and West Tennessee and extreme NW Mississippi.

* Arkansas has had a real tough time with extremely heavy snow so far this morning.

* Heavy snow over much of Arkansas with 6 inches of new snow already on the ground at Austin. That is in Lonoke County. Near Batavia in Boone County, 8 inches has accumulated. There were reports also of 20 inches on the ground in extreme NW Arkansas, but some of that was from the earlier snowstorm.

CURRENT WEATHER

* Heavy snow at Greenville, Mississippi with 28 degrees, wind gusts to 29 mph, wind chill of 14. Visibility only 1/2 mile. Greenville is over near the Mississippi River.

* VicKsburg reporting 39 degrees with light rain.

* Almost every reporting station in Arkansas is reporting snow. The temperature has dropped to 20 at Mountain Home and 19 at Walnut Ridge.

* Little Rock reports 24 degrees with extremely heavy snow and white out conditions. Visibility is only 1/16 of a mile.

* Heavy snow with visibility only 1/4 mile also reported at Jacksonville, Searcy, Hot Springs, Russellville. Temperatures in those cities between 21 and 25.

* Heavy snow reported at Oxford, Mississippi with 25 degrees and visibility only 1/4 mile.

* Snow, with visibility 1 mile, at West Memphis, Arkansas.

* Monticello in Eastern Arkansas reporting 29 with heavy snow. Visibility only 1/4 mile.

* Over in East Mississippi, both Columbus and Starkville report partly sunny weather with temperatures still relatively mild around 43. The thermometer will drop sharply later.
