The SPC has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for portions of Kansas and Missouri as elevated thunderstorms are intensifying ahead of a surface low moving along a stationary front.

There are two severe thunderstorm warnings right now in South Central Kansas.

Look at that dry line near the border between Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. The dewpoint at altus OK is 60F, while just 50 miles away in Childress TX the dewpoint is 28F. Meanwhile 100 miles further west, the dewpoint at Lubbock is 0F with widespread blowing dust as WSW winds averaging 27 mph gusting to 48 mph.

The SPC maintains a moderate risk for severe weather for later tonight, including the possibility of strong tornadoes over northeastern Arkansas, southeastern Missouri into southern Illinois, western Kentucky and western Tennessee.
