Lookout Mountain Damage

Thanks to ABC 33/40 Skywatcher Vic Bell for these images… he writes…

Here’s a brief summary of the damage on Lookout Mt above Noccalula Falls at Gadsden.

Tabor is open again now, but power is still out. There were many trees and power lines down in the area all the way from Scenic to Lay Springs Rd. The worst crossed Tabor just north of Black Creek Rd. That was the last area to get cleared as there were numerous trees broken off above the ground with power lines down. A barn roof was off at Tabor and Antioch. It was not in the road. Apparently there was no gas leak as reported in that area. Rat came down and checked it out, but didn’t stay long. Where the storm crossed Blackwell Rd earlier it blew the roof of a house and blocked the road with trees and power lines. We had to block off Antioch too because of power lines. Most of the roads and side roads had numerous trees and power lines down. There was a broad swath of wind damage from about 5 miles above the falls to 13 miles above the falls, but the most severe damage was a narrow strip maybe a 100 yards wide. I only had time to take a couple of pics because traffic was heavy and I had to back up and reroute traffic. I’ll try to get some better pics tomorrow.
