Lots of Rain in a Short Period Causes Flooding Concerns

Even as we are talking drought conditions across the entire state, heavy rainfall in West Alabama is causing potential flooding concerns.

A good 1 to 2 inches of rain has fallen in the past three hours across Sumter, Greene, Hale and Marengo Counties. More heavy rain is on the way in from Mississippi.

The NWS has issued an Areal Flood Advisory for those counties til 5:45 p.m. and warns that a Flash Flood Warning could be required.

Up to 3 inches of rain will fall before it stops tonight north of a line from Selma to Clanton to Roanoke with up to two inches over South Central Alabama.
