An interesting range in morning lows along the I-20 corridor in Alabama this morning.

The mercury dipped to 68F in Tuscaloosa and 70F in Birmingham. By 6 a.m. it was up to 69F at Anniston, but go back to 2 a.m. and it was 61F in the Charm City.

Drier air earlier in the night along with calm winds allowed for good radiational cooling. Clouds returning with a moist southwesterly flow ran temperatures back up to near 70F by sunrise.

Dense fog in Gadsden at 7:30 a.m.

It also led to some dense fog in places like Gadsden, Mount Cheaha and Anniston. Visibilities were down to one quarter of a mile in spots.

Clouds were fairly widespread across Central Alabama early this morning with all the moist air, but they will burn off as we head through the morning. Temperatures will warm into the middle and upper 80s.

A big complex of thunderstorms over the Ohio Valley will stay well to the north of us today and we will stay dry.
