From Demopolis
As expected, it has been a pretty wild day. J.B. and I have enjoyed a road trip… ending up here at Demopolis where I spoke with the second graders at Westside Elementary, and did the weather live at 5:00 and 6:00 on ABC 33/40 News from the Christmas On The River BBQ cook-off. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality; if you have never been to one of these things; there is food everywhere, and a bunch of folks offered us some delicious BBQ fare tonight.
After our 6:00 live shot, we boarded Storm Chaser 33/40 for the trip back to Birmingham, but alas, the engine would not start. Seems like a dead fuel pump is the culprit; we are thankful to our friends down here with the Demopolis Police who are allowing us some space in the Homeland Security Command Center, which is adjacent to our van. As you might expect, we have more food in here… it was given to us by the folks at Westside Elementary. Cakes, cookies, etc… it is quite a feast in here.
Our crew shooting the Sweetwater/Maplesville game down in South Marengo County will pick us up here in Demopolis after the game… so Brian Peters will be handling the 10:00 weather in the studio for me.
Interesting pictures below… you can see J.B. Elliott, and ABC 33/40 satellite truck operator David Polk chowing down on “wild hog” bacon from the “Butt Masters” cooking group… bacon taken from wild hogs killed over here in West Alabama. I am telling you, these guys will eat anything…
