Tornado picture from barge
Kevin Green, Parker Towing
The above picture was taken by wheelman Kevin Green, on the M/V Tom Huckabee (a towboat pushing barges owned by Parker Towing Company). Thanks to Ron Jesser at PTC for sending this one in (he helped me and Jason Simpson out when we almost ran out of gas on a boat trip down there).
The radar images below show the reflectivity and velocity around the time the picture was taken, along with the location of the towboat (near mile marker 160 on the Tombigbee River, headed upriver). The river runs NE/SW here, and it looks like he is taking the picture off the starboard bow (right front), so he is looking ENE toward Nanafalia, Alabama.
For perspective, here is a zoomed out reflectivity image of the storm. The towboat is along the Choctaw/Marengo county line.
Jennifer and I intercepted this storm near Maplesville in Chilton County, but by then it had weakened.
