Get Ready for Damaging Winds in West Alabama

| April 20, 2011 @ 7:59 am | Reply

Get ready for damaging winds from Millport in southern Lamar County to along US-82 in northern Pickens (Mcedonia, Reform, Gordo) to Caroollton, Pickenville and Aliceville to near Union and then even to Geiger in northern Sumter County, which was hit hard Friday.

Damaging winds of 60 mph or greater can down trees, limbs and power lines. It can flip mobile homes. Isolated tornadoes are possible, although not likely. High winds can cause tornado like damage anyway. Be in a safe, substantial home or building as these storms approach.

These storms will reach Tuscaloosa around 9 a.m.
