Southwest Alabama Showers/Storms

At 3:25 p.m., NWS radar shows a cluster of showers and storms over Southwest Alabama’s Choctaw, Marengo and Wilcox Counties. They extend back into southern Mississippi.

They are moving NNE at 25 mph.

Lightning detection shows lightning occurring over Choctaw County in Alabama and Clarke County in Mississippi.

The strongest storm was 10 miles SSE of Meridian.

The convection is developing in response to some upper level energy rotating around an upper low in the Gulf off the Louisiana coast. ning to The activity will continue pushing northward for the next few hours giving moderate to briefly heavy showers and a little lightning to parts of West Alabama. Rainfall amounts will be light.

Temperatures are in the lower 70s across Central Alabama despite the cloudiness.

Look for a cloudy start tomorrow also, but more in the way of sunshine later in the day. We will the record high of 75F at Birmingham tomorrow.
