A tornado watch continues until 6 p.m. CST for central, southern and eastern Alabama.

The airmass over the southern half of Alabama has become unstable. Clearing skies have pushed temperatures into the middle 70s over South Alabama from Montgomery south.

All of central Alabama is in the warm sector now, but the instability values are much lower.

A line of thunderstorms is pushing across West Alabama. It extends from Winston through Walker, western Tuscaloosa, Greene and Sumter Counties back into Mississippi.

The heaviest activity is just west of Tuscaloosa to west of Eutaw to near Livingston.

It is moving east at about 25 mph. It has show a recent increase in intensity.

The line continue to move east into an area of higher moisture, but surface based instabilities are very low. Wind shear values are still high, and any thunderstorm updrafts that develop could rotate, possibly becoming severe.

Thunderstorms were developing ahead of the main line to the south of Centreville/Brent and Clanton areas over Perry, Dallas and Autuaga Counties. This activity should push into Central Alabama over the next couple of hours. It could beocme severe.

Storms were still continuing over Northeast Alabama from the Gadsden area into Cherokee County.

Wind damage and isolated tornadoes could still occur through all of the tornado watch area. However, it looks like the highest probability of severe weather will be over the southern half of the state, south of Greensboro to Clanton to Dadeville. Areas south of Montgomery are of particular concern with areas within 100 miles of the coast really primed now for severe weather.
