DOESN’T FEEL LIKE MAY: As expected, this is a different kind of day. Many communities across Northwest Alabama are in the upper 40s with light rain falling; some of the relief centers are calling for blankets because people are cold and wet. Birmingham reports light rain at 3:00 with a temperature of only 52 degrees. We should be close to 80 this time of the year.

The back edge of the rain is moving through Northwest Alabama, and all of the rain should be out of the state by 8:00 p.m. The sky will clear after midnight, and tomorrow will probably be our last really chilly morning until the pumpkins come out in October. Most places will see a low in the low 40s, but the colder spots will visit the mid to upper 30s. Pretty brisk for May in Alabama. Everybody working disaster relief will need to be prepared for this chilly night, and keep in mind tomorrow night will be just as cold.

LONG DRY SPELL AHEAD: The good news is that we don’t expect any rain tomorrow all the way through at least early next week. Afternoons will get progressively warmer, and we will be in the 80s by the time the weekend arrives. Great weather for the golf event this weekend at Shoal Creek.

LONG RANGE: Again, no sign of any serious severe weather event for Alabama for the next 15 days. See the Weather Xtreme video for details.
