Violent Tornado Strikes Joplin MO

What appears to have been a violent, mile wide tornado has struck the city of Joplin MO. It struck around 5:40 p.m.

Missouri State Police reporting multiple fatalities according to KY3 out of Joplin.

Mike Bettes from The Weather Channel is on scene. Their team was trailing the tornado as it hit Joplin.

The St. John’s Medical Center was struck and heavily damaged.

Catastrophic damage to the high school in Joplin. The Wal Mart was destroyed.

Walking wounded taken to a temporary triage. More seriously injured being taken to another location.

Our prayers are with the people of Joplin tonight.
