Severe Weather Update…

It has already been an active severe weather day in Alabama with several warnings issued. No damage reports so far.

It will get even more active as the afternoon goes on. Instability continues to increase and wind shear will continue to get stronger as we go through the afternoon.

No warnings in Alabama right now. Storms are growing stronger in the I-59 corrdior from Birmingham back to Tuscaloosa.

The Tuscaloosa County storm shows weak rotation, just south of the city of Tuscaloosa. A tornado could form however from this storm.

A developing storm near Aberdeen MS is intensifying and pushing toward Marion County. It will pass near Hamilton.

The storm of the day so far is near and just south of West Point MS. It is moving NE and will pass north of Columbus. It has shown some signs of weakening, but this may be temporary as it has been a long lived supercell and could be cycling. It will move toward Lamar County. Numerous reports of tornadoes and funnel clouds with this storm over the past few hours.

A tornado watch continues until 7 p.m. for the northwestern half of Alabama.
