Alabama Update 5:10 p.m.

Down to one warning now…a severe thunderstorm warning until 5:15 p.m. for Chilton County…

The atmosphere had a little less of a lid on it today and a few more storms were able to bubble up in the hot and humid atmosphere. Several of them became strong and a few required severe thunderstorm warnings.

There were two reports of large hail, one from Chelsea and another from Centreville.

The storms have weakened just a bit as we move away from the peak heating of the day…and they should simmer down over the next couple of hours.

Storms are still quite strong over southern Walker County, into northern Tuscaloosa County, moving into Fayette County. They look like they could hold together for awhile. Can’t rule out their becoming severe briefly.

Of course, the storm over Chilton County is quite strong still with a warning in effect.

Other strong storms are over Hale County…wouldn’t be surprised to see a warning there.
