Southern Jefferson/Shelby Storms Pack A Punch

| June 25, 2011 @ 5:51 pm | Reply

The storms over southwestern Jefferson and northern Shelby Counties continue quite strong this afternoon.

They are along I-459 between Hoover and McCalla.

Bessemer PD reports heavy lightning, heavy rain and power out in parts of the city.

The storms are nearly stationary.

Rainfall amounts could approach 2.5 inches in an hour as well.

The storms between Montevallo and Calera are also producing heavy rain, lightning and strong gusty winds. They appear to be weakening a bit.
