Alabama at 7:30 pm (Correction)
CORRECTION FOR TALLADEGA COUNTY
Most of Talladega is included in the NWS 2 to 4 inch projection. Left it off the list earlier.
Rain continues to spread eastward toward Alabama. Some of it is evaporating before reaching the ground.
Radar shows rain over most of Louisiana into Central Mississippi. For a time large snowflakes were occurring at Eagle Lake, in Central Mississippi but later it was all rain.
Shreveport was reporting 34, light snow.
NWS, Jackson does not expect appreciable accumulation in Mississippi. Maybe some on grassy areas.
National Weather Service at Birmingham advises they will issue an update around 8:30 pm which will include a Snow Advisory for some areas and a Heavy Snow Warning for others. Snow amounts will be adjusted at that time. Currently, they expect these accumulations:
TWO TO FOUR INCHES
Bibb County
North Perry
Chilton
South Shelby
Most of Talladega
Coosa
Tallapoosa
Chambers
Clay
Randolph
South Cleburne
In a zone both north and south of those areas, expect 1 to 2 inches. Birmingham would be included in that. NOTE: Scroll way down to see the 33/40 map of forecast amounts.
SPOT CHECKING COLUMBUS/STARKVILLE
Light rain becoming mixed with light snow mainly after midnight. Overnight low 32. For Saturday, light snow during the morning. Clear/colder Saturday night with a low of 20.
More updates as the night goes on. Most of the snow in Alabama will be after midnight into the afternoon Saturday.
