Anyone remember this one?

“Well, I’m gonna raise a fuss
I’m gonna raise a holler
About a working all summer
Just to try to earn a dollar
Well, time I called my baby
Try to get a date
My boss says, no dice son
You gotta work late
Sometimes I wonder
What I’m a gonna do
But there ain’t no cure
For the summertime blues”

Yeah, you know the real dog days of summer are here when the old rock and roll lyrics come out. Good ole August in Alabama.

SIZZLING SUMMER DAYS: Birmingham is at 95 degrees at 3:00… most other places are in the mid 90s as well. Tuscaloosa is one of the hotter cities at 97.

Look for highs in the 97-100 degree range tomorrow through Thursday as the big heat bubble moves into Alabama and the upper high gets stronger. Warm temperatures aloft should cap off most of the showers and storms, and the chance of any one spot getting wet during this three day period is only about one in three. Best chance of hitting triple digits will be over West and Northwest Alabama, where top soil moisture is lower.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Temperatures aloft cool slightly, meaning the risk of scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and storms Friday through Sunday with highs mostly in the mid 90s. Expect the same kind of weather into early next week.

TOPIC: TROPICS: The disturbance near the Leeward/Windward Islands remains somewhat disorganized this afternoon, but is expected to become Tropical Storm Emily within the next 48 hours. Watch the Weather Xtreme video for details… models have shifted a bit to the left, showing some threat to South Florida in about 5 days, possibly as a hurricane. But, some of the more reliable tropical models such as the GFDL recurve Emily out to sea before reaching the Florida Atlantic coast. Again, at this phase of the game it is simply too early to speculate or really be specific.

The rest of the Atlantic basin is quiet.
